Rest in Peace

Bonnie Tyler

Total Eclipse of the Heart Singer

Such devastating news to wake up to that the iconic Bonnie Tyler has passed away!

Bonnie's music was the soundtrack to my life!

Of course I loved "Total Eclipse of the Heart," but "Holding Out For A Hero" was the song I played every time a potential love interest never worked out.

Whenever it rains on a sunny day, I always sing or listen to "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" because the chorus goes, "Have you ever seen the rain, coming down on a sunny day.

I adore her version of Bryan Adam's hit song, "Straight From The Heart."

It was Bonnie's 1996 album Free Spirit, that truly made me fall in love with her all over again!

Not long after that album was released, I was going through a challenging time where I had lost 3 friends. Bonnie's song, "Time Mends A Broken Heart" made it onto my Ultimate Survival Mix because it truly got me through that rough time.

That album also featured another one of my favorite Bonnie Tyler songs, "You're The One" & I would play that song every time I felt a dating situation was going to work out.

Now, I see that song was made for Angelo because like Bonnie sings, "You're the one. That G-d has made for me. You're the one. The one who keeps me going when I can't go on. The one I've been waiting for for so long."

Free Spirit also include incredible covers of Meatloaf's "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad," Paul Simon's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" & Jim Steinman's "Making Love (Out of Nothing At All)" - famously sung by Air Supply.

In today's world, with the invention of such platforms as Spotify, I was truly able to take a deep dive into Bonnie's vast music catalog & discovered so many gems like her 2002 album Heart Strings which features amazing covers of such songs as Bruce Springsteen's "Human Touch," REM's "Everybody Hurts," U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" & so many other wonderful artists' songs.

In 2023, Bonnie released her autobiography, Straight From The Heart.

Last year, in 2025, Bonnie released one of her most powerful songs called, "Yes, I Can," all about finding inner strength.

Just prior to Bonnie getting sick earlier this year (2026), Bonnie released another heartfelt song called "One World One Home," which is slated to be featured in the upcoming documentary called Homeless.

There will never be another Bonnie Tyler!

I truly have a Total Eclipse of the Heart today, but I am grateful that we will have Bonnie's legendary songs to always listen to!

Rest in Peace Bonnie!
