On the eve of Debbie Gibson's Birthday (her special day is August 31), here is an additional Behind The Curtain Story for you... that also includes a theatrical moment with Pop Icon Debbie Gibson...

There used to be a Broadway event called Stars in the Alley that took place every September where various shows coming to Broadway that season would perform select songs from their production. 

It was a free event and always drew a large crowd of theatrical stars and theatre loving fans.

The year was 2003 & I was very excited to be going to Stars in the Alley because it was always a fun time and I often bumped into some of my favorite Broadway stars.

This particular year, the weather Gods were not being kind and it rained, not pouring, but I believe it was a steady-ish rain. That didn't deter me from attending.

As I was walking through the crowd, who did I see, but none other than My Entertainment Idol, Debbie Gibson, who was getting ready to release her theatrical album, Colored Lights  that October.

I was so excited to see her, I just had to say hello!

In true Debbie fashion, she took a few moments to talk with me and take a picture together!

I don't remember Debbie performing at Stars in the Alley, but a month later Debbie was at FYE record store, near Radio City Music Hall, for a CD signing of Colored Lights & you bet, I was in attendance where Debbie not only signed CDs for everyone, but she put on a show featuring select songs from Colored Lights & a few of her greatest hits! It is an afternoon I have not forgotten!
