Strange Journey The Story of Rocky Horror
Calling all Rocky Horror fans!
There is a new documentary being released that will leave you shivering with antici-pation!
Directed by Linus O'Brien (the son of Rocky Horror creator, Richard O'Brien), Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror is an insider's dream come true.
It really takes the viewer behind the scenes of how The Rocky Horror Show came to life.
From rave reviews & high hopes after the London & Los Angeles theatrical productions to scathing criticism of its Broadway run & film release, I found myself intrigued throughout the 90 minute documentary.
I love how the film divulged the sneaky way in which Susan Sarandon got cast in the movie. Talk about going outside the traditional lines of casting!
I also found it interesting to hear how the actual movie, The Rocky Horror Picture Show was filmed. From what happened during Susan Sarandon (Janet) & Peter Hinwood's (Rocky) "Touch-A, Touch-A, Touch Me" scene to cast members recounting what it was like to film alongside Meatloaf.

My favorite fact that I discovered was how The Rocky Horror Show truly became the cult hit it is today, something I've always wondered about.
I was amazed to find out The Rocky Horror Picture Show used a tactic that every movie or show dreams of having in their wheelhouse.
There were two facets of Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror that I would have liked to see included in the documentary.
First, I would have liked to know how the cast members from the London/Los Angeles theatrical productions felt NOT getting to reprise their roles in the movie.
Second, I would have liked to hear something about the 2000 Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Show, which featured an all-star cast throughout it's two year run. I LOVED that production as it my first time seeing the show in its entirety. I saw that Broadway revival about 4 or 5 times.
Whether on stage or in the movie theatre The Rocky Horror Show is for anyone who has felt invisible or misunderstood.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the longest-running theatrical release in film history because of the movie's message.
It makes people feel seen when they have felt left out. It has allowed millions of people to embrace their true selves. It has given people a voice when they felt like they didn't have one.
Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror celebrates this feeling throughout the documentary, starting with its creator Richard O'Brien.
