Adam Rothenberg and Daniel Kirkley at Sidewalk CafeDaniel Kirkley has arrived in NYC! With the release of his Christmas CD "Love Is Christmas," Daniel made his NYC solo debut on December 12, 2012 at Sidewalk Cafe with an amazing night of music. Featuring a mixture of songs from Daniel's career, this intimate evening, produced by Jim Caruso, was filled with holiday classics, a few of Daniel's hits, and a showtune.

Daniel commanded that stage from the minute the show started. Opening with "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas," Daniel's seductive voice took over and lured the audience right in. Daniel effortlessly kept the audience entranced the whole time. I love Daniel's Christmas CD "Love Is Christmas," so it was even more exciting to hear him sing some of these songs live. A few of my favorites he sang live were "Love Is Christmas," his brilliant and sexy cover of Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You," "Light A Candle," and "Amazing Grace (A Christmas Story)."

I devoured his rendition of Mariah's "All I Want For Christmas Is You." Daniel has slowed this song down a bit, making it the perfect song to sit by the fire and dream. Daniel also sang a triumphant cover of Amy Grant's "Grown-Up Christmas List." This is a very beautiful song about what one might want as an adult for Christmas. I also enjoyed Daniel's original song "Amazing Grace (A Christmas Song). One of my favorite parts of tonight's concert was the mini reunion with Brett Dameron and Jodi Alayne Bluestein, two of Daniel's co-stars from Bobby Cronin's "Daybreak," which they starred in together this past June. The three of them, sounding great together, sang "Light A Candle" from Daniel's Christmas CD, "Love Is Christmas."

Daniel Kirkley at Sidewalk Cafe NYCAnother aspect of the concert I enjoyed was interspersed throughout the show were the non-holiday songs Daniel sang. He performed "Cry" from "Daybreak," which was his solo in number in the show, so it was a thrill to hear this song again. Daniel also sang a few songs from his earlier albums that he recorded while living in Nashville. My final favorite moment of tonight's concert came at the end when Daniel closed the show with his hit song "A New Dawn," all about what one can get from the start of a new day.

Daniel Kirkley is here for a long time to come! Between theatre and his recording career, lots of people are going to get to hear Daniel sing, which is a true blessing. Daniel's strong voice is sexy, powerful, and most of all very easy on the ear. I'm really looking forward to what Daniel has to show us next.

While tonight's concert was just the one night, you can hear Daniel's exquisite voice on his Christmas CD "Love Is Christmas!"
