Andrea Martin and MeOn Saturday, September 3, 2011, I saw a legened live on stage in the name of Andrea Martin, the Tony and two-time Emmy Award Winning actress best known from the television series "SCTV," playing "Aunt Voula" in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," and her numerous Broadway shows, who performed her one woman show "Andrea Martin: Final Days! Everythig Must Go!!," featuring music director extraordinaire and comedic genius Seth Rudetsky at The Art House in Provincetown, MA.

This hilarious, lively, and laugh-out-loud retrospective of Andrea's life and career had me and the sold-out crowd on the edge of our seats with eagerness and excitement! Andrea is a performer who commands the stage in a big way with her powerful vocals and brilliant comedic skills. Opening the show with a video montage of her career, Andrea already had the audience sucked in, but when she stepped out on stage and sang the opening number, "Everything Must Go," Andrea easily kept the audience enticed for the full hour! Part comedy, part cabaret, and all fun, Andrea showcased her various talents through skits and song as well telling heartfelt stories from her well established career in film, television, and theatre. Her skits included playing a sex therapist, a woman in a class to learn how to speak English, and a reprise of her legendary performance as "Edith Prickley" from SCTV. Some of my favorite stories that Andrea told were from her time on "SCTV" and in "Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein," "Fiddler on the Roof," "My Favorite Year," and the now legendary cast of the Toronto production of "Godspell" featuring Victor Garber, Martin Short, Eugene Levy, Gilda Radner, Jayne Eastwood and Paul Shaffer, their musical director.

Andrea also talked about the importance of being a mother to her children, including turning down a leading role on Broadway so she could be with her children. It was some of these stories that added an even more personal touch to the evening!

Andrea Martin truly has it all! She embodies everything a multi-talented performer should have...comedic talent, strong vocals that can blow the roof off and a story-telling style that captivates an audience! "Andrea Martin: Final Days! Everything Must Go!!" has one performance left here in Provincetown (tonight, Sunday, September 4 at 7:30pm) at The Art House (214 Commercial Street).
