James Archer: "Dying to Get In!"

On April 27, 2011, I attended James Archer's cabaret show "Dying to Get In!" at the Duplex in NYC. Who would have thought a cabaret show about working in a funeral home would be such an evening of fun and delight? Well that is exactly what it was. James brilliantly weaved together a dozen songs that reflected his experience of working in a funeral home, with humorous and entertaining patter in between! With such recognizable songs as Leonard Bernstein/Stephen Sondheim's "Something's Coming," Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself For Loving You," John Mayer's "My Stupid Mouth," Madonna's "Holiday," Destiny Child's "Survivor," Sting's "Every Breathe You Take," and Wham's "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," James' voice was strong, controlled, and mesmerizing! He kept the audience engaged as he smoothly transitioned between his music selections of showtunes and pop songs!

Friday, May 6 at 7pm is your last chance to catch this engaging and talented singer in "Dying to Get In!" at The Duplex in NYC (61 Christopher Street at 7th Avenue).
