Christmas comes but once a year, but every year, Dina Martina needs to bring her holiday show to NYC! This year's show, entitled "Dina Martina: An Early Hoarfrost" was my very first Dina holiday show and it was a blast! Dina illuminated the Laurie Beechman theatre with her signature style humor (which can often be a little dark and twisted), song parodies, and gifts for three sold-out nights!
In true Dina fashion, she spent the evening recalling fond memories of holidays past, hanging/working with Charo, finding love, and her adoptive daughter Phoebe. She also serenaded the audience with hilarious parodied tunes of "Santa Baby," "Father Figure," "Papa Don't Preach," and many others.
One of my favorite parts of a Dina Martina show is when she gives out gifts (using the soft "g" here) which are some of the most uniquely fun items I never knew existed. It's always a delight to see her special way of handing them out.
One of the things that impresses me most about Dina is how multi-talented she is. While she performed "An Early Hoarfrost" this past weekend, she also just opened completely new holiday show in Seattle that runs through December 31! So, if you missed her NY engagement, then I would suggest taking a trip to Seattle to check her out (even though it's a different show) because it will be so worth it!
