Review: "The Boys Upstairs"

Of the 200 plus shows featured this summer in the NYC International Fringe Festival, one show you should definitely check out is "The Boys Upstairs" by Jason Mitchell. Funny, humorous, and current, yet timeless. Three gay friends living together and sharing their lives. From boyfriends to one night stands to "is he" or "isn't he" to showing the depths of what it is to have a real circle of friends. The cast is amazing. One might think these boys (Nic Cory who plays "Josh", Joel T. Bauer who plays "Seth", & Kristen-Alexzander Griffith who plays "Ashley") have been friends forever. Their on-stage chemistry is perfect. Josh Segarra who plays "Eric", the boy everyone wants to know about, is wonderfully cast as he keeps you guessing the whole show. David A. Rudd who plays the one-nighters and boyfriends of the other boys, keeps your attention, for you never which boy he'll be cozying up to next. The playwright, Jason Mitchell, is one to keep your eye on. He may be telling a story, but the story is real. If I had to cast each of my friends in a role, I could which says just how identifiable this show is. You never know what kind of show you will see in a festival, but with "The Boys Upstairs", you will be seeing a good one! Get your tickets now before it's too late!
